Edgar Montague Townsend was born in Fordham (Newmarket Q2-1926 3B:696), son of Walter and Mary Elizabeth TOWNSEND (née PARR) of Fordham. In 1939 his parents were at Lower Carter Street, Fordham - father [22-10-1887] a farm worker; mother [27-6-1895]- one closed record.



Four of the 7th Somerset Light Infantry were killed this day. Their brigade was fighting against a German counter attack by the 47th Panzer Korps around the Goch-Kleve road, whilst pushing forward to the Rhine
